If the Venture Star, Pluto-Kuiper Express, ACRV, and ISS Spacehab all get cut from NASA's budget, then there's certainly scarce room for expensive space science missions. The June 1, 2001 newsletter outlines recent work on a "minimal" style occulter that could still be used with NGST ... for 1/5th - 1/10th the cost of a full mission, albeit with reduced science capability.
